A Solstice hug at the Pig Pen

Last night my brother and I went to my favourite Pig Pen Supper night hosted by the wonderful Trevor and Kath at their home in Over Stratton. Once a month for the last 6 months this delightful duo have opened the gates of their slice of paradise to share an evening of delicious home cooked food under the stars.

Pig Pen evenings are always served with lashings of love in surroundings that are enough to make Tinkerbell and friends want to move house! It is one of the most magical events I have ever been to and last night’s festive flavour was no exception.

We dined on pheasant casserole and veggie hot pot served with baked potatoes and braised red cabbage, which is a favourite of mine – Mum always made it this time of year. She was so very much with us in spirit last night although is was very sad that she couldn’t be there in person as intended.

We gathered around banquet tables under canopes of fairy lights as the Christmas tree sparkled beside us. With festive recitals, fireworks, music and magic, it truly was a feast for all the senses.

Thank you Kath and Trev for being such exceptional hosts, for cocooning us in love and reminding us how to smile. To friends both old and new who joined us around the fire, as musicians played into the night.

Whoever said fairy tales don’t exist needs to get booked on to the next one in March! (I can’t believe we’ve got to wait that long!)
